Unlike other health professions, nurses are unique in providing health services, namely the potential role of family empowerment and local communities through primary health care approach and socio-cultural approach is holistic and comprehensive. Thus, efforts to improve public health approach can be combined in a harmonious and balanced with individual health efforts. As we know the cause of disease and malnutrition is not only due to limited access to health services and limited resources but a lack of cultural support to the creation of public health.

Various benefits can be obtained from the optimization of the role and responsibilities of nurses. The main benefit is increased access to and extensive coverage of health services to the corners of the country. Because health care plenary done optimally at its source, then the cost of referral and follow-up care due to increased severity of illness of patients in hospital can be saved, subsidies can be diverted to other health sectors. Primary health care approach can be used as the entrance to provide promotive and preventive health education through social contacts and culture to change people's behavior in implementing a healthy lifestyle. Thus, diseases due to lack of knowledge and culture of unhealthy behaviors such as malnutrition, infectious diseases, maternal and infant mortality can be more suppressed.

If the above can be achieved, the health of Indonesian population will increase. Productivity population increases with better human development index that will enhance the dignity of the nation. Increased competence of nurses also provide opportunities for the entry of foreign exchange, considering the needs of nurses in developed countries from the very large and the current public interest in Indonesia is still high enough to be a nurse.

Finally, the main health problems of Indonesia's population will be mitigated through "pioneering nurse through quality primary health services in serving the community" Equity and affordability of health care is still a major obstacle that affects the cost and the distance of transportation problems can be overcome, because of the presence of nurses widely distributed to remote villages and border areas.
